Is there a way to set the internet connection to automatically disconnect if it is idle for a certain amount of time. My connection otherwise will stay connected for hours and hours without me knowing. I know I can manually disconnect, but when I forget it stays connected indefinitely. It didn't seem to do that on windows 98, I now have Windows XP Home Edition. Any help would be appreciated.

Try Control Panel|INTERNET OPTIONS|CONNECTIONS tab|SETTINGS|ADVANCED

There sure is, control panel : internet options : connections : settings,
then select the advanced tab of the dial up networking settings. There will
be a tick box you can select and choose a time for it to disconnect if you
are idle for a specified amount of time.
