I recently changed internet services and now I am not
able to disconnect from the internet. I did have a
computer symbol in the bar on the bottom of the screen
that I could click on to disconnect. It is not there
anymore. How can I get that back so disconnecting
doesn't take so long? Please help. Thanks

Are we talking about a Dial Up Connection?
Control Panel | Internet Options | Connections tab
Click on your present ISP's connection in the window for
"Dial-up and Virtual Private Network Settings"
If that connection is not marked as (Default), then click
on the button "Set Default"
Now click on the "Settings..." button
In the "Dial-up settings" area, click on the "Properties" button
and then at the bottom, put a check in
"Show icon in notification area when connected"
Click OK
In the "Dial-up settings" area, click on the "Advanced" button
Put a check in
"Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed"
If it is checked and you do not want it set, uncheck
"Disconnect if idle for (so many minutes)"
Click OK and OK again.
Now you should get a prompt asking if you want to
disconnect when you close Internet Explorer or if not,
then you can right click on the two little computers down
by the clock and choose disconnect.
