I'm trying to reinstall win2k pro, and it keeps stopping during the "installing devices" part of setup. Answers to other questions have said to disconnect alldevices except for the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. How exactly can I go about doing this? Thanks!

Unplug any unneeded peripherals - scanners, printers, etc....

Are you doing a clean install or an upgrade in place/repair?

Oh wow so that was a really stupid question, I thought it meant that I had to take my sound card out, etc. Thanks so much for your response! I disconnected my printer and modem, but it is still stopping at the same place. I'm doing a repair install. If I restart the computer again, but this time take the windows disk out, will it go back to my old Windows setup, or is that gone now?

:-) no problem

How long are you waiting during the "installing devices" portion of setup?

For my first two tries, I waited about two hours. Then 2 or 3 tries, waited for about 10 minutes. Finally, last try is coming up on about an hour now. Do I need to take my ethernet card out?

No, you shouldn't need to....

What had gone wrong with your previous Windows installation that made you
decide to do a repair install?
