We have a situation with a 6 month old Toshiba Tecra notebook. Sometimes but
not always but enough for it to be a definite pain , when we disconnect from
the internet , ie: when we close IE , the notebook freezes. We have to power
down , reboot and everything works again. We then log on anything upto 20
times and off again without anything happening and then it does it again. We
use Tiscali as our ADSL provider , Kaspersky as our anti virus and everything
else works fine. There is no error message justa frozen screen. We understand
that Toshiba's can have a problem with VoiP so we disconnected the phone and
uninstalled the software. No difference. We're currently waiting for a new
ADSL modem to arrive from Tiscali , in case the current one is the cause. Any
suggestions would be very welcome as most of our work is done online and this
is costing us serious money.
Thanks.

You may be infested with malware. Kaspersky is a good anti-virus, but there
is a lot of other malware out there: spyware, aware, etc.
