Cant get Disc Cleanup to free space on hard drive. Opens
with 3 dashed lines on progress bar - and doesn't
change - even after 2 or 3 hours. This stopped working a
couple weeks ago.
Had Sony Viao w/ Windos 98 2nd Ed. Now have HP Pavilion
(ze4430us) w/ Windows XP, Home Ed.
The "Search" feature IN XP is very hard for me to use,
compared to the "Find" in 98 - where I could manually go
to C/Windows/Local Settings/ Temporary Internet Files -
and delete what I wanted. There were many large jpegs and
mpegs from every site I visited, and temp files from
those I downloaded. I can't find these with XP - to
delete them manually. There may be 2 or 3 GB in these
temp files by now. I'm running slower and slower.
Any help? Please.

When you run the Disk Cleanup utility, the program may stop responding
(hang) while scanning for compressed files.

CAUSE
This issue occurs when there is an incorrect entry in the registry that is
used by the Disk Cleanup utility to locate compressed files..
