An Air France A330 has gone missing over the Atlantic Ocean after encountering Turbulence and reporting a short circuit possibly from a Lightning Strike shortly
after take-off.
At 3.30am contact was lost and all hope for the plane is now gone say an Air France spokesman..

More details here

So sad when a disaster like this happens anywhere

Lightning?

I don't think so, if it was, the plane will not have passed the FAA ... the last crash that was attributed to lightning was in 1967.

:(

Awful news :( I wonder if they will ever find the aircraft to see what really happened.

In todays news at midday there was a vague report about some metal fragments on the sea.It was said that this was spotted by Brazilian plane, but unconfirmed.
A real tragedy indeed.

At night when I do manage to sleep or try to sleep, I normally put Talksport on, on the puter and let that helpme off to sleep..WellTalksport online wasn't working last night, so had to listen to LBC last night, and from say 3:45am all that was on, was abut this incedent..Quite sad really....

Must admit m8 , i spent a few hours last night thinking of the event ..very very sad without going into too much detail.

One thing i hope about the results of this tragedy is that the airline company did not scrimp on avoiding storms due to fuel costs :(

One of the theories going around about what could have caused the accident is that of an asteroid striking the aircraft. And if so it needn`t have been a large one---who know`s?
