As a reaction to some favorable comment here I got a copy of the latest
freeware version of 602.
It is an outstanding example of crippleware, little more than an advertisement
for the real thing. Trying to access so many functions -- insterting fields,
even creating a new binder for storage of documents -- resulted in a screen
that urged me to upgrade (about thirty dollars).
I don't fault the developers for using this means to sell their wares, but I'm
surprised that a number of members of this NG approve of it, and even call it
freeware.
I'll stick with what I have: metapad for text editing, CopyEdit for rtf and
some doc usage, and OpenOffice for sophisticated document creation.

Oh dear, now I wish I hadn't "up"-graded. Darn. The last version of 602Pro
was great. It worked almost identically to M$ Word and 'xcell. Sure, it
lacked a couple features, but it never did THAT to me. Darn "up"-grades!

Do you have a link for CopyEdit?
