After installing the most recent windows update, I have
started having a new problem.

Normally, whenever I have something running (a task),
whether it is minimized or not, the task would show on the
taskbar. Now, nothing shows there. In order to find an
orerating program, I must use the task manager to find it.
This includes my dialup (it use to be shown with the
icons).

How do I restore the original condition?

Charles,

I suggest you visit MS-MVP Kelly's website at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Note the instructions at the top of the page,
then scroll down to line 240,
(Programs Aren't Minimized in the Taskbar)

Right-click the hyperlink, then click | Save Target As |
to download the file, "xp_taskbar_desktop_fixall.vbs",
then double-click and follow the prompts.
