when i try to add a site to the trusted sites list, it does not appear in the
list. when i try to add the site again i recieve the error message:
"the site you specified already exists in another zone. please remove the
site from that zone before adding it to the current zone."
i have checked the registry and found the value for the site under
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\
i have checked out verious forums which suggest it may be something to do
with a missing value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE so i tried adding the same entry
to this branch, but this had no effect.
the problem is not specific to a certain website as i have tried adding
several sites to the list, all with the same result
the problem is also not specfic to a certain machine/user, as the problem
was initially identified by a user, i have copied his actions on my machine
and recieved the same results
we are on a business network but DO NOT use any automatic configuration
scripts to define IE security settings (i mention this because all of the
similar discussions i have found identify this as the problem)
any help/suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated
