Disappearing Message Rules.

I have recently had my computer overhauled and, at the same time, had Bit
Defender installed. Since I have had it back, I find that my Message Rules
have nearly all disappeared and after re-entering them several times, they
are still disappearing. E.G. Last night I re-entered about 18 rules and this
morning there are only six visible.

Please does anybody have idea why this is happening.

In order for rules to be saved they have to be written to the Windows registry.
Some security programs restrict the ability to write to the registry.
A partial list of programs known to do this are:

Ad-Aware Ad-Watch
IBM Access Connections
Kaspersky
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot> Tools> IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spy Sweeper
Spyware Doctor
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5, reported to be fixed in later versions.

I don't know if Bit Defender falls into that category. I suggest doing a trial uninstall
to see if that cures the problem.

Many thanks for the information. I'm not quite sure what was going on but it
seems to have cured itself now. I can only think that when I had BitDefender
installed, it was all in French (because I live in France). I wrote to
BitDefender in the U.K. and they gave me an English Version. I can't help
feeling that while it was sorting itself out it sent my Message Rules
haywire. I also found that I still had SpyBot on my machine (which is now
deleted) and that could have also been a contributing factor.

Many thanks once again. Greatly appreciated.
