Disappearing Hard Drives

On my XP Pro, three drives have just disappeared, two SATA and one PATA. All
have been working flawlessly over a month with SP2 until two days ago. In
BIOS, DEVICE MANAGER, all five drives show up, but give NO VOLUME LABEL as
they also do in DISK MANAGEMENT, which says: "HEALTHY" (unknown partition).
I have NO access to these three drives. The other two drives function just
fine. I've done SFC /SCANNOW, reinstalled drivers, etc., and NOTHING. No
physical changes were made to the unit prior to the malfunction.

I've seen this same complaint posted elsewhere? Can anyone solve the case
of the missing hard drives???

Thanks,

Bill

I'd start with the simplest possible solution, try using System Restore to
take you back to a time before it began. Start\All
Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.

I've tried that to no avail. All restore points well before the disaster are
valid and I've tried about 5. No change.

Any other ideas?

You might want to take this question to the windowsxp.hardware newsgroup as
you are more likely to find users there who may have experienced the same
issues and/or have a better idea how to deal with it. "Accessibility" as it
applies to this group refers to Windows XP accessibility options and not the
ability to access hardware.
