I have an XP machine for 6 months now. My main usage folder has 10GB used,
allowing for standard OS and Office software the amount of disk space
available os only 9GB from a 60GB HDD. Would like to know where this has gone
and how to get it back?

Check your system restore properties. The default is 12% of your drive.
Depending on how many restore points you would like to keep you could
reduce this to 5% or less. Empty your recycle bin. Check your mail and
get rid of any mail you don't need and empty the deleted folder.

Right click on the start button select search then What size is it?
click the specify size button and type in 10000. This will give you a
list of files around 10 MB in size sort the list by size. This will let
you see the biggest file son your system. If you use hibernation it
creates a huge file. See the link below for info:

One thing that you could to reclaim some space on your hadsisk is to remove
some of the app's that you don't use a lot of and take them off and then you
may have some extra room on your hardisk Adam Australia
