disappearing dialogue boxes

When clicking on a link, the relevant dialogue box appears, but sometimes for
only a fraction of a second and then disappears. I then have to click on the
relevant icon in the task bar and if I am quick enough in bringing the cursor
and clicking it in the box when it reappears, it will stay put. If not then
it disappears back down to the task bar. It never seems to occur when the
page is full screen but it also sometimes happens when clicking on the Start
button, the Start Box will often disappear before I can for instance, Log
Off.
The problem is very spasmodic but I now feel that after some months of
putting up with this very annoying trait, it seems to be getting worse. This
box in which I am now working has disappeared to the task bar three times
already, since starting to type.
Any help would be much appreciated. (Now five times since starting to type !)
 
Is this a .Net Programming question? If so, please be more specific, and
post some code. If this is a Windows question, please post it to a
newsgroup with "Windows" in the description. This is a .Net Programming
