disappearing data souce dialog box

I am attempting to link tables from a SQL database. I have already set up
the ODBC connection in my administrative tasks.

When I open my front end in Access 2003 and select ODBC Databases () in the
files of type drop down the dialog box disappears.

Any suggestions?

You probably use Norton Antivirus of Symantec Antivirus or a flavor thereof.
Turn off the Office Plug-in:
