Disappearing CD-ROM

For some reason, the CD-ROM on my IBM Ispirati has ceased functionning and has even disappeared from the listing of my hardware; for instance, under "My Computer." I did have extra memory installed just before. Could the CD have been disconnected then?

Is your system BIOS recognizing the CD-Rom?

If not, chances are the ribbon cable and/or the power
connectors were disconnected to install the memory.
 
im betting you pulled a cable loose inside when playing with the ram..just a thought..might check it
