Disablling XP's wireless utility

I just upgraded to XP on a 2 1/2 year old machine. I
tried to connect a Speedstream Wireless Adaptor from the
computer to a Speedstreem Router. My desktop icon says
that Wireless Connection is excellent.

I called Speedstream Support and they said I needed to
disable the XP wireless utility, because that was somehow
blocking my connection to the internet.

I am not able to connect to the internet. However, I can
connect through a eithernet connection.

How do I disable the XP witeless utility?

Answer:>At this point of time , there is no reaseon why
you shouls disable the Wireless zero config..
Please check for the following settings on your wireless
comp.
1>When you right click on the wireless connection icon ,
do you see your network..
2>are you getting an IP address from the router, or are
you getting a auto config IP address[169.X.X.X]If in case
you are getting an Auto config IP address , try assigning
a static IP on the comp in the range of the DHCP pool of
your router..
3>If you are getting an IP address ,or if you have
assigned a static IP address, try to ping the router's IP
address[normally 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.1]
4>Make sure you dont have any personal firewall like
BlackICe or zonalarm or any internet security software
running on your comp, that may try to block the packets
coming into your comp..
After all this if you still want to disable wireless zero
config, please follow these steps:
1>Right click on the My computer icon,
