Disabling

I have recently bought a new Mustek scanner but cannot
get this to load probably on Windows XP Prof. - the only
help I can get is to be told to disable any anti virus or
fire wall loaded onto my machine _ I have both but no one
will tell me how to disable - can anyone help please

By load, I'm assuming you mean install. If this isn't the case, disregard
the rest...

If A-V is Norton, it should have an icon in Systray (clock area). A
right-click on mine has "Disable" in pop-up menu. Study your particular
firewall Help; it should tell how to disable. Just remember to re-enable
BOTH after scanner install.

Do not disable anything, especially anti-virus programs.
If XP installed anything at all, check the ControlPanel
and uninstall the scanner. Reboot PC.
Now plug your scanner into the USB port and
XP's "plug&play" feature should state that it found NEW
hardware and ask you to insert the installation disk.
Just follow instructions and reboot after installation.
