Is it possible to disable the Word 2007 startup box. I mean the first yellow
box that appears with the text 'Microsoft Office Word 2007'.

Edit the desktop shortcut to add a space and the characters /q at the
end, after the closing quote mark:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE" /q

For more things you can do with command-line switches like this, see
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=210565.

Yes. Start Word with the /q switch on the command line. For example:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE" /q

Although Jay and Yves have told you how to do it, if you're wanting to do
this to accelerate the opening of Word, it won't help, as I believe the
conventional wisdom is that it still takes just as long for the Word
document window to appear whether the splash screen is shown or not.
