disabling the double clicking

where have windows 2000 on our machines and we have locked
them down. but they can still access explorer by double
clicking on programs in the start menu. is there any way
we can disable the double click?

Not as far as i know. I think that too much else depends on double
clicking.
They can still get to explorer by:
pressing the windows key + e
start ->run explorer.exe
or start ->run <any valid directory name will do>

And if you got that taken care of, there is still:
start-> run cmd.exe
The file->open, or save, or save as menus on A LOT of different programs
that have pretty complete file management capabilities (if somewhat more
awkward).
Using Internet explorer, or other web browser to look at your local files.

And of course, if you got the run menu off of the taskbar, you can still
get there by:

Windows key + R
Ctrl-Alt-Del ->Task manager-> File->Run (and from there, there's also the
handy dandy browse button)

So on the count of three, say "AAAARRRGGHH!"
