No problem.
Yes. LOP and CWS are more of nuisance than other spyware.

Sorry Ramesh, i didn't mean to offend you.
I just wanted to give extra information, based on my own very bad
experiences with this kind of software.
I just can't understand there are companies developing this type of
software, making money with it, and not getting sued their ass off, because
i think it's criminal.
And i also find it hard to understand that this type of malware is not
blocked by anti-virus software.
For a normal user, which is not an expert, i think it's impossible to get
rid of it.
Please see my previous post where I said the same. It's better to read the
response fully before posting. And the toolbarcop htm page states running
Ad-Aware is a must. And I suggsted the prevention measures as well.
Thanks.

This is most likely lop.com or something similar.
I don't understand why virus scanners don't remove this type of software.
To get it cleanly removed, i would advise to use adaware (lavasoft).
I oncer had a version that could not be removed by adaware yet at the time.
I removed it with something called "HiJack This", which is an application
much like you describer, that tells you which registry keys etc. are
suspicious and lets you remove these.
I think disabling all extensions is not a good solution. First, you might
want to use legitimate ones like the google toolbar. Second, the malware
would still be there. If you ever turn it on again the problem reappears.
Third, this will not get rid of changed favorites, changed homepage, and so
on. Fourth, i think it even doesn't work, because the malware has a separate
process running that will restore everything that you can get rid of
manually and just turn this option back on.
Hi Alexander,
They are third-party browser extensions [BHO or toolbar extensions]. To
disable the browser extensions, goto Internet Options > Advanced tab and
uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions".
This however does *hide* the symptom. You will need to spot the malware BHO
causing the problem and remove them.

I have a lot of weird shell extensions that simply block my computer from
working properly. They intercept links, modify web pages, open a lot of
popups in separate browser windows, etc. How can I check what shell
extensions of all types are installed on my PC and disable them?
