disabling multithreading in a P4

Hello, I've been told to try disabling multithreading on my system in order
to have a better performance of a music sampler software.

I have no idea how to do this. I cannot find any place where to learn this.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

You probably mean hyperthreading; multithreading is a programming technique
the sampler software itself probably relies on.

Hyperthreading is a hardware feature, and you will turn it off in the BIOS.
How exactly you do that depends on the motherboard and the BIOS you have.
