Disabling autorun

First of all I would like to say that the help and
support supplied with XP is a piece of garbage (not to
mention what is available as so-called "help" here when
you are trying to find something simple in the search
engine....) It really makes me angry to search for a
solution to a problem with my OS only to find at the end
of the article that it applies to win95,98, or Me.
(Q126025) Why would you supply answers to problems for
other MS OS's when I don't even have them installed on my
system?! I have had every version of Windows since it
became an OS and the help and support function on every
one of them has been useless. I guess then it is no
surprise that XP is the same way. Anyway, on to the
problem...
I recently upgraded my nero 5 to nero 6 and originally
had 5 set so that anytime I inserted a blank cd, nero
would automatically start. Everything was working fine
until the upgrade. Now, even though nero 6 is already
running, if I insert a blank cd, ANOTHER copy of nero 6
starts. This is extremely annoying. After alot of
searching I found that I can hold the shift key while
inserting a disc to disable the autorun feature or I can
go in and jack with the registry to disble the feature
altogether (??? whatever happened to the user controls in
device manager???) but I can't believe these are the only
solutions. Isn't there any way to view and modify
the "list" of cd types that are controlled by autorun
without having to choose to have it on or off? It pops
up everytime you insert something new...can't you force
the list to come up again when inserting a previously
added type? Hope someone can help.
Thanks, DRV
