Disabling a mail server with Outlook 2000 and Exchange Server

It seems that Outlook when configured for exchange server will try each of
your mail servers in order until it can send an e-mail. Is there a way to
disable a mail server so that it is not used. There are times when I do not
want some of my mail sent out via one or more of my mail servers.

Thanks in advance.

Note that in Outlook 2000, it is not supported to have both Exchange and
Internet mail in the same profile. It will cause problems
eventually....either create separate profiles, or upgrade to a newer version
of Outlook.

I do not mind having two profiles, but in 2000 there seems to be know way to
have one profile for exchange and one for internet mail. Is this the case?

No, since you're already using corporate/workgroup mode, it's no big deal to
set up. Go to control panel, mail - show profiles. Add a new one - probably
easier to set it up with the Exchange server, unless you're using an OST
file. Modify the old one so it doesn't have the other mail service in it.

Open outlook - go to tools, options, and select "prompt for a profile" (I
forget where this tickbox is).

You'll need to use File | Exit & Logoff whenever you close Outlook, to make
sure it doesn't just open up with the previously used profile.
