I disabled few services and now I can't enable them.
Worse - I can't open properties window for any of
services. Also I can't open events in the event viewer.
Please help!
Andrew

Open the registry and change the start value to 2 for each service you
disabled. The service entries can be found under
hklm\system\currentcontrolset\services\<Shortservicename>
The dispalyname is what you see in services.

I have a similar situation, but when I change the disabled
service to "2", it still does not start unless I reboot
the system. Wihtout a reboot, I get error 1058. Is there a
way around this? I'm trying to embed changing the registry
to "2" then starting the service in a script.

.

I wanted to please add that this happens with the "Task
Scheduler" service in particular. I notice that some
services can stop, be disabled, be enabled, and start all
in the same session (i.e. do not require rebooting). For
whatever reason, the "Task Scheduler" cannot. Hope you can
help. Thanks in advance,
JC
