I noticed this problem in my Yahoo Mail account, initially. Scripted buttons
such as the Delete and Reply buttons no longer work when I'm in IE; no such
problems when using Firefox. I now see the same problem at other websites;
standard hyperlinks work ok, but no go on things like download or search
buttons. I'm up-to-date on security and service packs. Any ideas what could
have done this and how to fix it? It seems to be getting worse.

Hi,
Sounds like a Javascript problem.

Try these steps:
Go to Internet Options> Security> Internet Zone, set it to Default.

Clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete
files (and delete offline content when that dialog pops up) It's often
recommended that the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)

Important...
Check any third-party security programs, ad-blockers, toolbars, etc. to see
if one of them is blocking scripts, scripting, active content. Norton
Internet Security and a number of other programs can be configured to block
scripts.

Try these two commands from Start> Run
regsvr32 vbscript.dll [enter]
regsvr32 jscript.dll [enter]

Reinstall the scripting engine. Go to
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
for the appropriate download of Windows Script 5.6

Re-registering the DLLs listed in this article may help:

Hope this helps,

Hi Don,

Thanks for the suggestions; I also thought it might be a javascript problem.
I tried the fixes but, unfortunately, the problems persisted.

I ended up installing an old version of IE6(w/o security updates) from my IE
folder, and everything seems to be working ok. I'll install the updates
one-by-one, and check after each update to insure that IE is working. I
understand there were some problems with the most recent update, so I'll be
on the lookout for any changes after I install it. If the newest update does
create the same problems I'll uninstall it, if possible.

Thanks again,
JB

JB, we've run into a similar problem... certain buttons or graphics not
displaying while the IE browser (6.0) says "xx items remaining".

Did you find a patch or resolution to your issue?

Thanks!!
