I use SpamBayes to screen and remove spam/junk email but when spam populates
the Inbox, and then is immediately removed from the Inbox, the tray icon for
"you have unopened items" still appears (even though the target spam is
marked as read).

Is there a way to programmatically (with vba) to disable the tray icon?

Thanks.

I have to rant a little here...

The most annoying part of my day as a sales proffesional is the
goddamn new mail icon that pops up when a junk mail hits my inbox and,
even though the message is moved to the junk senders directory
immedately, the f**king little new mail icon pops up in my systray
(taskbar) and the new mail noise goes off. Hey Microsoft team, can't
you put the little icon up after the rules/junk senders are processed?

I have 3 levels of spam control, 1 on the main mail server, 1 on the
local mail server, and the one in Outlook, and I still get about 30
junk e-mails per day that are automatically moved by Outlook.

It is such a waste of time to restore the Outlook window to find that
there is no new messages in the Inbox, just another addition to the
junk mail folder from some M****F***ing SPAMMER! (There has to be a
special place in hell for spammers)

CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEE!?!?!?!?!!!

In Outlook 2003 if emails are moved to the junk folder by the junk email
handler then no new mail envelope appears. If it bothers you that much
upgrade to Outlook 2003.

Wow, found an interesting link for an Outlook utility:

http://www.techhit.com/autoread/

You can mark any Outlook folder to automatically change incoming
mail's status to "read", and then remove the icon from the taskbar.
This sounds interesting, You can download a free trial (not sure how
long it lasts), but to register is $10.

I'm gonna check it out!
