i have been implementing policies within our organisation
to restrict users from changing settings in Outlook 2000.
One restriction i need to apply is to 'grey-out' Tools-
Accounts but the Policy editor does not include this. I
need to delve into VB to find out codes & i'm not too
clever at VB to be honest. Can anyone point me in the
right direction.

I've managed to disable many options but this one is very
important.

many thanks, gav

I know Office XP and 2003 let you disable any toolbar command as long as you
know the ID for the button. I assume that Office 2000 supports that, too. (I
don't have the 2000 .adm files handy.) If you don't want to write your own
code to recurse the Explorer.CommandBars and Inspector.CommandBars
collections, you can use either the CommandBars Browser or Outlook Spy tools
listed at http://www.slipstick.com/dev/vb.htm#tools

Not tested but I believe enabling the policy "Prevent users from making
changes to Outlook profiles" will do the same.

Also note that disabling the button doesn't mean a restriction of the
option. There are other means of accessing the mail profile setting like via
Mail in Control Panel.

But he wants to disable Tools | Accounts, which means Outlook 2000 IMO mode,
which means no profile.

Yes, I'd remove the .cpl Mail applet, whatever it's name is, too.
