Short of going in and killing the switch inside the keyboard itself, is there
an easy way to disable that key ?

I'll be scooting along at a good rate, then look up to double check what I just
wrote only to find at sometime my finger strayed just a bit too far left and
turned on the caps key. Then I have a page half caps half normal. I use the
shift anyway's to cap a word.

All it takes is a bit of searching using Google on "keyboard remap".

F12 is that a fairly useless key on XP or is there something better
and even more remote and useless than F12 ?

So the only good key is a key that Windows knows how to use? I have
programs that know very well how to recognize the F12 key so within my
applications there is a definite need for the F12 key.

well it failed with my 1st editor program. just needed to remap it in the
editor program, but f12 seems to be fine so far.
actually have a new key a fn key next to the right shift, have no idea what it
does.
