just fitted new cordless keyboard which has a 'sleep' button (i
haven't-installed the driver, it just works) only trouble is, my damned
machine wont wake-up again - wont even reset - i have to unplug it from the
bloody wall

Anyone know how to disable sleep mode? (or the button)

p.s. in the power options i've tried enable/disable hibernate support - no
difference

In Power Options > Advanced tab there's often a list there that
tells the machine what to do with certain keypress's / actions

options for sleep button are: Shutdown/Hibernate/Standby

tried hibernate and standby - seem to do the same & i cant recover from
either :o( and there's no option to "Do Nothing" grrrrrr :o)

i have screensaver set 20 mins inactivity
monitor idle after 2 hours
harddrive idle after 3 hours

these all work (and suit me) fine

Hibernate? Standby? grrrrrrrrrrrr - i'm tempted to pull the damned button
off the keyboard :o)

thanks anyhow

have you looked in the BIOS to see if the option can be turned
off in there?

checked it, only rellevant settings i have:

Suspend: disabled
Wake up on P.C.I. = Disabled
Wake up on LAN = Disabled
USB KB Wakeup from S3 = Disabled (presume USB keyboard :o(

no mention of wake up on keyboard or mouse - no mention of disabling it
altogether either - i'll just have to live with it - maybe i'll twiddle
around and stop it going into such a deep slumber (it's more like a coma
hahaha :o)

thanks again

Hi Jethro

Just one little thought here ..

Your wireless keyboard and mouse... is prolly bluetooth or a
similar technology yes? ... and that adaptor is either on the PCI
bus or attached to the USB which is on the PCI bus yes? ....

If so then enabling wake up on PCI may do the trick for you?

I may be on the wrong track here but worth a try uh ;o)

Hi,
sorry I cant help you with your specific problem but instead of
"unplug it from the bloody wall" why not try the '4 sec' power down? Hold
the power button pressed for 4 seconds and the machine will power down.
Note: Im not sure wether a bios setting needs to be activated but AFAIK its
a standard on all boards.

hth,
Dave

that seems to wake the computer up :o) but not the monitor :o( - so i cant
really tell :o~ - maybe a bit more tweaking i'll get there - i'll twiddle
around thanx for the ideas
