Well that kinda says it all right. I have XP with SP1a
and IE6 (without the IE6 SP1 and I have no intention of
installing it as previously when I did, I lost a good
deal of functionality). Anyway, my problem is that
frequently I will get 'Script Error' messages event
thought I have the 'Disable Script Debugging' box
checked. So this should prevent these message boxes from
popping up right? But they still do sometimes. When I
restart XP, it seems to clear this check box.

I don't get it? Seems like there is a registry setting
that I would need to change or is off, or something,
right? Anyone have any ideas.

It is reaaaaaaaaaaly annoying.

Thanks

Have you also unchecked "Display a notification about every script error" in IE at Tools...Internet Options...Advanced tab, Browsing section?

Yes, that one is always unchecked. This is driving me
insane. I mean if I have to go diging around in the
registry to fix this, I have no problmes with that.

Thanks

FYI XPsp1a includes IE6sp1 as a base version. ;)
Check your version of IE with its Help About menu item.

Check your startup for clues. (e.g. with msconfig)
Try disabling things you think are suspicious and unnecessary.

Check to see if mdm.exe is running and if this article applies:

<title>KB321410 - OFF: How to Turn Off Machine Debug Manager, Mdm.exe</title>

(Also I notice that msconfig apparently could be used to control
Machine Debug Manager via the Services tab.)

FWIW I do have mdm.exe (from Visual Studio .NET) but I don't
have your problem; so I'm just giving you things to test, not things that
I know will help.

If that doesn't help find the cause I would try running RegMon with
its Log Boot option and filter only on those two debugger variables.
(RegMon is freeware from SysInternals.)

Good luck
