Hello,
I've been working on setting up an internet kiosk, built ontop of XP
Professional using IE6 as the browser. To build it, I've been using
the Microsoft Managment Console and registry tweaks to get the machine
locked down. However, one of the requirements for the project is to
have a links bar/favorites populated for users. I've got context menus
disabled for both IE and Windows Explorer, but users can still right
click on those and move/edit them, which is simply unacceptable. I'm
looking for a way to either lock them, the Links and Favorites, down
entirely or completly strip the ability to right click in windows.
Could someone please help me?

IE is part of Windows, so you should be able to use the Group Policy Editor,
which only works with WinXP Pro.

Enter: "group policy editor" + xp in Google for plenty of links -
information and how-tos.

I'm using the group policies to lock the machine down and haven't found
something relevant to my specific problem. Admittedly, I may be
looking in the wrong place but am running out of places to look.

Hi,
How about Control Panel> Mouse, set the right button to a harmless function
like click, F5, double-click, etc.

Make sure to lock users out of Control Panel. ;-)

Hope this helps,

I sure find Jim Boyce's site handy, if those didn't help, have a look
here...

Wes,
None of those policies lockdown the context menu for the links bar or
the favorites menu, still allowing for changes to be made. While
Boyce's site is a pretty good reference, I couldn't find anything to
lockdown the two components I need.

Don,
The driver that we're using is the HID-compliant driver; one of
windows' generic mouse drivers. There are no button specific settings
(unless they're hiddne somewhere) and all I can find is to reverse the
left and right click mappings. Do you know if these changes are saved
in the registry somewhere? I'm going to try with a different mouse,
PS/2 one, and see if the PS2 driver is any different.
