If I'm in the incorrect forum, sorry. I'll try and briefly explain what
happened and what I did to correct it though I would like to be educated if
possible.

I'm using Vista Home Premium (SP1) and my main computer is physically
connected to a wireless router. (The wireless router is used by my wife's
laptop.)

Tonight I was nosing around the Network and Sharing Center \ View Status
and, just for the hell of it, clicked on Disable. I then was unable to find
the Network back. I rebooted the computer and everything came back as I
hoped it would. I tried the same thing again to see if I could re enable
the Network without having to reboot, but could not.

Even after rebooting I was without a Network. The only way for me to get
back to 'normal' was to go to Backup and Restore Center and restore the
registry from yesterday.

OK, I realized I changed a setting that I should not have, but was surprised
to _not_ be able to get it back without having to restore the registry. I
learned a lesson but would like to be educated if anyone here feels like
taking some time.

Thanks, DH

OK, I'm further along ... at least to my satisfaction.

If I (under Network Diagnostics) ... Enable the Network Adaptor "Local Area
Connection"... , everything goes back to 'normal'.

Sorry for the unnecessary post. DH
