There is a setting in policies or the registry in windows 2k & Xp that stops
a program from being run. I cant remember how to get to it or where it is.

The setting stops a program from being launched by a specific file name. eg.
kazaa.exe
This will stop any programs with the name kazaa.exe and windows pulls up a
window saying something like its been disabled.

I am hoping to stop kazaa from being used on my network.
Can anyone tell me where it is???

A search on google brings up too many un related results. "how to disable
user from running program"

One way is to right-click on the file, choose "Properties" ... "Security",
and deny everyone the permission to "read and execute".

This is similar to what I was looking for.
There is one where users can only run the programs that you allow them to
(below) or,
there us one where users can run all programs except what they are not
allowed to.

I am looking for the latter as I simply want to stop kazaa. All other
programs I want to allow and I cant keep updating the registry settings for
each time I add a new game or program which I do daily.

Do you know of the setting I am looking for?

Thanks,

Hi Ray
