Disable ports in XP

I am trying to disable/reset ports 21 and 23 on XP.
According to the Advanced Settings for my connection
(ADSL external modem), these services are not enabled.
However, an online port scan off Symantec's site says
they are open. Since I am not using FTP or Telnet, I
would like to close these ports for incoming traffic.

Any ideas?

Hi, Roy -

You can use Windows XP's Internet Connection Firewall to
disable traffic on those ports if you like - open Control
Panel --> Network Connections and right-click your
network connection. Select Properties --> Advanced and
you'll be where you need to be.
