disable popups

When I click on any .doc files on my website a window pops up asking if I
want to 'open' or 'save' the file- Is there a way to disble this window so
the document will just open when I click on it?

Depends on your web browser. If it has an option for it, use that.

You have no influence on this from the server side. The only responsibility
your site has is sending the correct MIME type for the document (in this
case, application/msword). The rest is up to the browser.

If you want help with your browser, try a different newsgroup.
