Does anyone know how to disable the password in Windows
2000?

I have three computers networked. Computer #1 (the main
computer), has Windows 2000. Computer #2 has Windows XP,
and Computer #3 has Windows ME.

When I try to access Computer #1 through Computer #2, it
asks me for a password. I enter it, and it gives me
access. When I try to access Computer #1 through Computer
#3, it asks me for a password as well, but, when I enter
the exact same password, it says it is invalid.

I think it would be easier if I just removed the password
from Computer #1 all together. Does anyone know how to do
this? Thanks!

Assuming your network is being used by all trusted users and it is protected from the
internet by a firewall, you can enable the guest account on those computers where you
do not care about specific user authentication and EVERYONE will get access without a
password prompt. --- Steve

The issue is that you are attempting to use a crap OS (ME)
that has little to no security setup in it. Notice how
you do not have to use a user ID on ME? You are using one
with 2000 and XP. Therein lies the problem. I'll try to
do this just off of memory, so I hope this is right.

Do a MAP Network Drive from Windows Explorer in ME. I
hope that along with the box to type your network path
there is an option to select "connect as another user" or
something similar. Hit that, then for the USERID, type in
<windows2000>\userid then user your password. Find out
what userid you have automatically logging in on 2000 and
use that users password, OR setup a new user ID & password
on your Window 2000 machine and use that. Note that
<window2000> means the name of your Window 2000 machine.
