I read an article regarding "disable indexing both from IIS snap-in and from
NTFS" for security reason.

What is the purpose of 'Indexing'?
How to disable from IIS snap-in and NTFS?

Hello William,

Indexing Services is a search engine that is built into IIS or Microsoft
Windows.

You can disable the "index service" by going to Control Panel->Services and
chossing "Indexing Service".

In Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, there is no option for removing
Index Server. If you go into Add/Remove for IIS, there is no option to
remove Index
Server.

Click on Start, Programs, Index Server (Common), and Index Server Release
Notes. At the top of the page, click on the link that says "Removing Index
Server."

Follow these directions to the letter. They involve removing DLLs and
registry keys, so watch out.

Thank You.

Diana.

Hello,

The only way to disable Indexing via the OS is:

You can disable the "index service" by going to Control Panel->Services and
chossing "Indexing Service".

Thank You.

Diana.
