I was easily able to do this is OE, however now I'm using
OL and can't figure out how to disable receiving HTML type
e-mail or disable just the HTML, I read something that
talks about when using word as your text editor, in the
help files, but I just didn't understand what it was
talking about.

Most of the time I use a third party mail client to
receive my mail and delete the garbage from the server
before I download it, BUT sometimes I'm online using OL
and the time to check mail comes up and it downloads
the usual spam, and other junk...

goto tools > options then email options and under message
handling check read all standard mail in plain text, this
might help you.

I don't have the e-mail options you mentioned
When I use outlook and going to the tools and options I
see the following tabs Preferences, Mail delivery, mail
format, spelling, security, other. I found the option
about sending mail in text only, but nothing about
receiving text only, keep in mind this is outlook version
9.0.0.6627 windows 2000 sp4

Here is what I found, searching the microsoft database.
You can't manually disable receiving html in an e-mail
within outlook 2000, you have to apply the outlook
security pack provided by microsoft. here is the link.

I guess I should have mentioned I had office 2000, quite a
different animal than the previous office products.
