I connect 20 iPods at a time to Vista (at a museum) and every time one
connects it pops open a folder/drive, so that eventually I have 20 windows
open on my machine. How do I disable the folder popping up every time I
connect an iPod.

You have already been shown how to disable AutoPlay. This is not an answer
to your question, but I do not like iTunes very much. For my iPod, I use
two things to replace iTunes. Neither are free, but do not cost much.

One is a plugin for WMP:
MGTEK dopisp (catchy name!)
http://www.mgtek.com/dopisp/

The other one integrates with Windows Explorer:
Anapod Explorer

I actually use both, depending on what I am doing.
