Disable Final Showing Markup

Hope

Everytime I open a particular document that I use often, it opens in the
"Final Showing Markup" mode. I've tried and tried to change it to just
"Final" so I don't have to see all of that, but even though I save it, it
never saves that particular change. Please Please tell me how to disable
that aggravating feature so it will just open up like normal, which I guess
is just "Final". I don't even know how or why it started happening, but to
my knowledge I didn't turn it on, so I'm not sure what happened. I
personally have no use for seeing all the changes I've made and all of those
red markings so I really don't need this and it's become quite an
inconvenience that I've not been able to fix. I'd appreciate any help that
you could give me. Thank you sooo much.

Thanks for replying back to me so quickly, but unfortunately I've already
done these things and saved it each time, but it continued opening up showing
me the "Final Showing Markup". However, after posting my question, I knew
there had to be a way to stop it and in case anyone else has this problem,
here's what I found. I lucked up on what the problem was in the first place,
although I cannot imagine how/why I would have told it to track changes in
the first place. Anyway, you click tools (at the top), then click options,
then click edit, then UNclick "keep track of formatting", and then save it
and that will take care of opening it in the "Final Showing Markup" and it
will display like normal, which is the final copy. You don't have to accept
or reject any changes, you just make whatever changes you want/need to make,
save it and that's it! I hope this can help someone else because it has
definitely been a pain for me for a very long time. Thanks again for your
quick reply.

Turning it OFF

in 2003 i'm sure it's tools, options, security

in 2007

1. you go to word options (which you have to get to by clicking on the office logo in the upper left hand corner that is NOT in the menu bar, as far away from anything obvious as you can possibly imagine, thank you MSFT)

2. then you click on "word options" at the bottom of that pop up screen, click on trust center, then click on trust center settings, privacy options, then un-check the box for "make hidden mark up visible"

enjoy

Wow, thank you. That has been a plague infecting my office since we upgraded to 2010. Why oh why Microsoft can't you leave settings off until we otherwise really want them on? You get 3 gold stars.:thumb::thumb::thumb:
