the dw6000 has a static ip of 192.168.0.1 which is the same
one used by ICS so I can't get it to set up as shared over
my home phoneline network. I can set up a bridge between
the hpna and ethernet card and then it can be shared..but
then it won't allow the firewall to be on. Please help.

According to these web pages, the DW6000 has built-in router, DHCP
server, firewall, and NAT capability:

http://www.virgintechnologies.com/files/DW6000.pdf
http://www.broadbandreports.com/faq/8504

In that case, there's no reason to enable XP's firewall, because it
would just duplicate the DW6000's firewall function. Bridging the
HPNA and Ethernet cards would be fine and would eliminate the need for
ICS. You could still install a third-party firewall, like ZoneAlarm,
that has more features than the DW6000 or XP's firewall.

Unfortunately, ICS doesn't support changing the IP address of the host
computer's LAN connection, and XP won't let you enable ICS on a
connection that has a 192.168.0.x IP address. If you really want to
use one computer as an Internet sharing host, I recommend getting a
different Internet sharing program.

Beautiful..They provide very little info about the DW6000.
It works perfectly bridged to my HPNA (shares internet with
other PCs and files & printers). I was only concerned about
the firewall. You saved me..Thanks Steve.

You're welcome! XP's Network Bridge is a great feature. I've used it
to connect wired Ethernet, wireless Ethernet, and HPNA to each other
in a single network.
