directx

I'm trying to play a CD ROM game that keeps asking for
Directx7. I'm using xp professional and I can't seem to
download ANY direct X's. They say they install but then I
can't find them anywhere.

Greetings --

Since WinXP already has DirectX 8 built into it, you certainly
can't install the older version. The game should still work with the
newer version of DirectX, which was backwards-compatible.

The Latest version is Direct X 9.0b and if you go to the windows updates it is one of the downloads. If not then you can download it from here. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx
