DirectX again?

I already posted this twice today so I don't have much
hope of this posting. Was there a problem?
Anyway, I downloaded a program but they said I needed
Direct X-9. I thought that was what I had since on the
front page where the Direct X is located (run..dxdiag) it
is printed "version DirectX-9". When I looked in the
index pages it shows for display 6.13,sound 5.10 and
network 5.03. None were higher then a six. So... I quess
that means I don't have direct X-9 but maybe have X-6?
Any help? I'm cofussed...Peace
 
That is normal information. Windows XP comes with version 8.1
of DirectX, and you have version 9. My info virtually matches yours.

Actually the program you downloaded probably uses some of the new
features of DX9 and your video card probably does not support those
features.

Only some of the very latest video cards support all the DX9 features.
If you have an older card then the problem is being caused by the
older card and not whether or not you have DX9.

Also when posting here, this site is not a live support site. It is
not monitored by MSFT and you may have to wait up to 24 hours or
longer for someone to read your post and answer it.

to a post. It just wouldn't post at all. I did it a few
times and double check the second time for mistakes. No
big problem though! I got through this time. They may of
been working on the site.

if it would mess-up the one I had if I did? I needed
advice not wise-cracks. Everyone lately is trying to play
know-it-alls. This is a "new user" post isn't it? I

Should I down-load the new version? Did you?
 
(I just bought my computer, so it should be new)

Just because you just bought the computer does not mean that the video
card that is installed in it will handle the newest features of DX9.

Like I said before, the video card in your system probably does not
support the newest features of DX9, and the game or app is really
telling you this and not that your dont have DX 9 installed.

And this will especially apply if the video on your new system is
supplied by onboard video integrated into the motherboard. None of
those will fully support all the new DX9 features.

You can download and install DX9 again if you want. It won't hurt
anything but I doubt it will let you run the app. I really do think
the problem is like I stated above with the vid card and not DX9.
