directx 9

I know that this is a numpty question but please help.

I am trying to install directx 9 on my xp system so that I can play with my one and only xmas present. I continually get the error -

"The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. The software will not be installed. Please contact your system administrator." I have administator priveleges on my account on Windows XP."

Can anyone help???
