After downloading from M/S site, when installing this
message comes up:-The software you are installing has not
passed the Windows logo test,and fails to install.
Help Please
 
Most likely you've "tweaked" the XP Services. Go into Control
Panel/Administrative Tools/Services and make sure Cryptographic Services is
turned on and running. There's a web site or two making recommendations to
"speed up" XP without really stating the consequences. If you have further
issues, please post to one of the microsoft.public.directx.* newsgroups.
They're the ones who support DirectX.

My experience with receiving that message is that its the video card
and driver used. Try upgrading the video driver then installing the
latest DirectX

I've had two system on which I received that DirectX unsigned message.
When the video card was upgraded, the message did not occur when
installing the latest DirectX
 
That's a possibility, too, however the thing that jumps out most often with
game machines is the "tweaking." This newsgroup supports games on Windows
XP, while there are several (a half-dozen or more) DirectX newsgroups where
those folks need to be involved.
