Is there any news, to the problem, that PAL TV-tuner cards
dos'nt work after updating to DirecX 9.0b.
I have read some where that this is a "high priority
issue" with Microsoft, but my TV tuner hasn't worked for 6
weeks now, and I am growing very impatient.
Regards
Martin

Have you tried removing and reinstalling the drivers for your card? Have
you checked the manufacturer's web site for updated drivers to see if they
might restore the functionality.

DirectX 9.0b was released on 7/23/03 to address the MIDI security issue
identified in bulletin MS03-030. A small number of non-security fixes were
also included in the release. One of these fixes caused several TV Tuner
capture card/driver combinations using video formats other than NTSC
(NTSC-J, PAL, SECAM) to no longer initialize correctly on Windows 2000,
Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003. Symptoms include loss of capture
functionality and potential inability to set/retain device capture settings.
A hotfix, documented further in Knowledge Base article 825116, has been
issued to correct the flaw.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the DirectX 9.0b issue.

Hi Stan!

Thank you, for your quick reply.

The patch fails upon executing with the following error:
"Setup cannot update your DirectX files because the language installed
on your system is different from the update language."

I am choosing the English version (which I have installed with
DirectX) but when using dxdiag tool, I noted in the DirectX Files pane
that some files are listed with Danish as language (the o/s is
Danish). The files are listed below. The rest of the files are listed
with English language.

I have just finished reinstalling windowsxp, carefully avoiding the
9.0b patch, with all my programs, documents setups etc, etc, only to
discover that upon installing Adobe Premiere Pro, the installer
applies the 9.0b patch automatically (no questions asked.. Grrr).

Restoring doesn't work.

Can you please help me how to come around this problem, so I again can
use my TV-tuner card?

Thanks in advance
Martin Rasmussen
