Received the above error starting yesterday on one of our
two DC's. However, I am at a loose in trouble shooting
because all the Q articles I've read mention refer to the
three root causes for this error:
Insufficient permissions to obtain access to the Ntds.dit
file and log files. (Nope - checked)
Unscheduled loss of power that can cause the Ntds.dit
file or log files to become un-readable (jet error 550).
(nope - system on UPS and no shutdowns have occured in
months)
Columns that have been deleted from the jet database
updating-schema cache when inbound schema changes are
replicated. (?)
Yet, both before and after the error I get Information
events (700 and 701) stating that a online defrag started
and completed (successfuly) on the ntds.dit so that leads
me to believe that the Active Directory database can be
accessed successfuly.
Am I wrong?
Any insight?
BTW - no other erros on other DC and this DC only has
some failure audit error (677,565)
The other DC shows no issues
