Hi all,

Years ago in the good ol' DOS days....deep sigh....okay, I'm better. I used
to have a freeware aptly named DirPrint and it did just what it said. I'm
trying to make comparisons between directory folders and since I have only
one eye, printing works better for me. Does anyone know of something
similar that will work in XPhome? Thanks in advance.

Directory Printer v5.1
http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptdirprn.asp

No more fumbling with My Computer or Windows Explorer, wishing you could print
information about all your files. Karen's Directory Printer can print the name
of every file on a drive, along with the file's size, date and time of last
modification, and attributes (Read-Only, Hidden, System and Archive)! And now,
the list of files can be sorted by name, size, date created, date last modified,
or date of last access

If your main task is to compare two directories then you may want a tool
that emphasizes 'differences' rather than getting a listing and scanning
them for differences yourself. Try CSDiff in folder mode.
These generates reports that you can print.

thanks, I'll give this a try;o)

Directory Lister
http://freeware.prv.pl/

Directory Lister lets you list all or selected files you have
in selected directories on your hard disk, cd-rom, floppy
and wherever you want into text or html file.

Windiff compares directories or files showing the results graphically.

Show Identical Files Include files which are identical in each path
Show Left-Only Files Include files which occur only in the left hand
path
Show Right-Only Files Include files which occur only in the right hand
path
Show Different Files Include files which occur in both paths, but which
are not the same.

I think it also says if files are the same!

=================

A quick and dirty helpmeet in the form of DOS:

1. Shell out to a DOS Window
2. Navigate to the Directory or Drive you want
3. Type .. DIR > LPT1 (If you have a printer)
or
4. Type .. DIR > FILELIST.TXT (Will get you a text file for Notepad)

Thanks, Steve....this worked marvelously, and did exactly what I
wanted....now the trick will be to remember where to click to do it
again...LOL...but I've kept a printout...and perhaps I'll be able to find it
when I need it;o)

I appreciate all the responses, and wanted to thank you all. For what I
needed right now, Steve's suggestion worked very quickly and easily...so
problem solved. I have grabbed these other items to see how they work, as
there may be other issues where they would be better, so I really appreciate
it;o)
