The arragement of files in my home-based XP system has changed from
alphabetic order to reverse alphabetic order. I found that I could re-set
the order by using the control panel files command to restore defaults.
However, during a work session (e.g., building a powerpoint presentation) the
order changes again!

Can anyone help me figure out what is happening???

Are you accidentally clicking on the column header?

Sort in Explorer

In details view, by default Windows Explorer displays files and folders in
ascending order.

To sort items in ascending or descending order, click the column header,
notice which way the arrow is pointing.

Many thanks for the advice. I was able to find the mystery arrow and get
things back into alphabetic order. Ted G
