Have just installed IE 7.0 Beta 3 and there after the HP Officejet 5510
Director is not being launched. Have uninstalled and re-installed the
drivers for the Officejet without any relief. Shall appreciate if any
guidance is forthcoming from the learned persons in these groups.

Thanking you in advance.

IE7 is beta software. Don't install beta software on systems you care
about - betas are for testing. I suspect you will need to reinstall your
system entirely as there's no uninstall for IE7 (I'm not entirely sure).

IE7 beta should NOT be installed on a production machine.. As IE7 overwrites
any previous version, you will have to use ADD/REMOVE programs to eliminate
IE7, and then re-install IE6.. for the IE6 full download and instructions,
go to this website..

This is one of the "joys" of using beta software. Please understand that
"beta" means software that isn't finished and is still in the bug-checking
phase. It is a bad idea to run beta software on production machines or on
any machine which you are unwilling to wipe.

That said, any questions/comments about the beta IE7 program should be
posted in the following newsgroup (not in either of the ones you have
crossposted to now):

Is that correct? After I uninstalled Beta 2, IE seemed to be back to
version 6 - fully functional. [I did have to reinstall a couple security
updates]

There are rumours that IE7 overwrites IE6.. obviously not as much truth in
them as there could be.. :-)

I have the same problem installing a HP psc 1315. Am I to understand that I
must reinstall my XP program and then the Service Pack and update both? I do
not have to uninstall the Windows XP program that is on my computer now do I?
If I reinstall over it, will I lose any of my program information that is in
WordPerfect or QuickBooks. What type of information will I lose? I have
been working on this problem for over a week!

Linda,

Kindly uninstall IE 7.0 and things will work normally. That is how my
Director has come back to life.

HP people are not bothering to answer this and, unfortunately, this group
instead of appreciating the problems being faced and thereby finding a
solution is accusing as to why we installed IE 7.0. Nevertheless, let the
tecchies handle the problem.

Regards,
